Regional honours for ladies' team captain.
Congratulations to the ladies captain, Katy Hart, who has played 2 full games at loosehead for North West. The team was made up of players from Altrincham Kersal, Vale of Lune, Lancaster University, Chester Uni, Northwich, Waterloo and of course Heaton Moor! The first match was East Midlands vs North West match on 11th February at Melton Mowbray RUFC. It finished 10-5 to East Midlands. North West's poor discipline let them down a little with 2 yellow cards (including North West's captain). The second match was home (at Broughton Park) against West Midlands. West Midlands have won the Regional Competition for the past two years so North West expected a tough game.West Midlands had very strong, fit, fast forwards which meant that there was a lot of big tackles to be made. North West lost 5-17 but were fairly pleased with the score as they were worried they might get thumped!
The final match is away at Percy Park on 19th March: North East vs North West. North West won this fixture at home last season so they're hoping to pick up a win. The final training session is next Saturday (10th) when we will have a better idea of selection for the final match. Katy doesn't think she'll get to play in the last game because there are other front row players who haven't had a game yet.......but you've kept them out of the team so far Katy!
