Ladies beat top of the table Fleetwood to claim 3rd consecutive win!
Sunday 26th November Heaton Moor Ladies showed how much they have progressed this season with a great team performance and convincing victory. Fleetwood have regularly topped the league for the last few years and have beaten Heaton Moor by around 50 points in each of their last few meetings. Moor took an early lead with a great try from Briony after a line out in Fleetwood's 22. A good run from top try scorer Heidi soon followed and Captain Katy converted. A shell-shocked Fleetwood managed to break through & score but Moor replied with a try from Domps an another by Heidi after the forwards turned over the ball in Moor's 22. The next score came from a scrum in Fleetwood's half as Domps picked up from number 8 to score her 2nd try. Fleetwood sneaked over for their 2nd at the end of the half giving a scoreline of 27-10 at the break. At the half time team talk the coaches told the girls to make sure they got the first score of the second half but it didn't quite go to plan as Fleetwood got the first...and the second (oops!) closing the gap to 27-24. Fleetwood kicked overhead and Briony made a great run to get back for the ball in a move that ended up with Heidi claiming her hatrick. Kate was denied a great try as the ref deemed it held up but the resulting scrum was the start of Heidi's second hatrick, thanks to her incredible running and some great passing by the whole team. The last of her tries was scored with outstretched arms as she was tackled just before the line. New girl Helen celebrated her debut by adding the conversion. Cat & Domps both made good breakthroughs but didn't quite make the line leaving Moor just short of the half century....but absolutely thrilled with a throughly deserved win! Back of the match - Jacqui. Forward of the match - Domps. Beer downing - poor! |
