Sunday 18th February
Heaton Moor Ladies turned out an impressive 18 players for their home game against Ormskirk on Sunday, although the game was played as 12-a-side with uncontested scrums as the visitors didn't have sufficient players (at least it's an improvement on the recent spate of 10-a-side games!).

Ormskirk threatened Moor's line early on but were denied by a flying tackle from Heidi.....did anyone see her coming? She was way over the other side of the pitch when the Ormskirk girl got the ball!

After recovering, Ormskirk opened the scores with a converted try. Moor were given a penalty in Ormskirk's 22 but TJ couldn't quite find the posts in the dazzling sunshine. She soon made up for it with a great run and pass to Helen who scored for the home side. Ormskirk scored their 2nd try before Heidi broke through their defence and scored after another of her very-fast & very-long runs.

Although the first half was very close, sadly the second wasn't as Ormskirk ran in 4 tries. Moor had a couple of penalties in the Ormskirk 22 but the closest effort was held up over the line, somewhere in a swarm of forwards. The comedy moment of the match came towards the end as our tallest player Heidi chased Ormskirk's shortest player across half the pitch before bending down to tackle her! Man-of-the-Match pint went to Domps who proved she is much better at rugby than pint downing!

Next game is away at Rossendale 4th March so lets hope the girls get back to winning ways.
