Ladies win emphatically at understrength Bolton.

Sunday 19th November

Heaton Moor Ladies secured their 2nd victory of the season on Sunday (following their 39-19 home win over Rossendale 2 weeks earlier).

Unusually for Moor, they started well scoring 3 tries in the first 10 minutes of the game. Heaton Moor took 15 players to the game but as Bolton could only muster 10 players the match was played as a game of 10s (with the benefit of 5 subs for Moor). Shortly after Moor's 3rd try, one of the Bolton girls had to go off with an injury reducing their team to 9 players (below the league minimum). Neither side wanted to abandon the match so early in the game and thanks go to Julie and later Leighann who temporarily defected to the other side to allow the game to continue (shame Bolton only provided a small shirt as Leighann prefers being able to breathe!).

The remainder of the game was 'lager rugby' rather than champagne as playing 10s with uncontested scrums was a long way from ideal. Domps and Heidi both scored hatricks, Cat got 2 and Briony also got 1. One of Heidi's try was especially good as she ran the full length of the pitch to score it. A few people tried their hand (or rather their foot) at conversions and Captain Katy suceeded with 2 of her kicks. Man of The Match went to Martina for some brilliant try-saving tackles......but she still can't down her beer very well!

We are still 4th in the league but now have a positive points difference for the first time in ages!

Thanks again to all our supporters who travelled to watch us - we had more supporters than Bolton had players! We do appreciate the support & hope to see you all on Sunday for our home game against Fleetwood  (Kick off 2pm).
