U16s cup victory over previously unbeaten Bury.

The under 16's were ready willing able and up for the cup game against Bury last weekend. Talk of excitement, nerves and expectations was the early banter in the club house. Even the loss of Alex hardy (man of the match last week) didn't detract the lads focus.
We had a squad of  19 players to pick from and all could argue a case to be in the starting 15. a quick discussion with the Bury lads revealed they were so far undefeated this season , winning 2 and drawing 1. We were in for a tough game
Moor kicked off, and a superb high ball from Bennett Minor was dropping just 12 meters from the half way line when gazelle like skipper Will Bailey rose and caught it in mid air. The pack were there in an instant and drove the ball on through three phases of play, when the ball eventually game out to the backs where fly half Danny created a gap, put on the after burners and crossed over the line for a magnificent opening score.
Bury tried to put the pressure on from the restart, but excellent defensive work enabled Chris Bolland to pick up a loose ball and race 50 meters to score. A third try from an excellent forward break by propo Dan Goodwin, who deftly off loaded to winger Bradley who smashed over the line was quickly followed by another by Will Bailey who added the extras. Before Half time there were two further tries from Danny and Will.
As expected from an undefeated team , Bury came out of the blocks hard and fast at the start of the second half and quickly got on the scoreboard. Moor rallied and Sam 'Killer' Ireland bullocked over to regain the focus.
A secure scrum on our own 10 meter line gace scrum half John Millman the opportunity to go blind and off load to James 'Bambi' Sinclair who galloped the 60 meters to score nder the posts. Bury came back to score their final points of the game. Two late tries from Chris Boland and Bradley made the final score comfortable for Moor. In line with Lancashire recording the final score as 42-12 (we cannot reprt more than a 30 point difference.
Although 9 tries were scored by the backs, it was the back row of Jack Ashby, Oliver Seville and John Walters who were the the stars, they tackled everything that moved, and always looking to turn defense into attack.
It was pleasing to note that all 19 players came onto the field at some stage, and that included 4 under 15's who did not look out of place, well done Calvin, Bradley, Stefan and Eric.
Thanks go to Keith Young who referred the game and Rick Lindsey who helped prepare and warm up the players.
The team is undefeated in the cup games and only a narow defeat against Broughton Park blemishes our record
