U12s back to winning ways against Dukinfield
Moor Back To Winning Ways
Finally back to rugby after Christmas and weather halted performances for the under 12s as Moor came out winners in a gruelling, hard fought game when the forwards came of age. The first half was a total difference from the Eccles match, lots of talking and encouragement from the players accumulated in an outstanding team performance, where the players pulled together to produce a different edge to their game, not as much flowing rugby but pure, hard graft gave Moor a first half 14-5 lead. The two tries were both scored by Dan McDonagh but the work was done by the forwards grinding down the opposition. In the second half the team showed the same commitment and determination even though there were several substitutions making use of the squad available. All 7 under 11s came on and continued the powerful, committed performance, highlighted by the try saving tackle by Ciaran Connolly (albeit marginally illegal!!!), gaining tremendous applause from the watching crowd and saving the Dukinfield coach 50p as this would have been their lads third try! Well done to the lads for an outstanding gritty performance. Special thanks go to the forwards: skipper Oli Nilan, Aiden O’Malley, Sam Smith, Sean Aggett, Joe Hayward, Jack Briggs, Sean Penny and Ronan Wilcox, who were all outstanding and gave us the win. The man of the match though goes to Owen John with some tremendous tackling, skill and leadership in the backline.
