14s start season with a win.
The Heaton Moor under 14 season got underway against Eccles. The 48-7 victory was begun on Thursday evening, when an excellent training session had all the boys well focussed and prepared. It was nice to travel with 17 well motivated lads who knew they had to play well to retain their place. There have been a number of new players who have taken on the Moor jersey this season but the slipped seamlessly into the team. The Moor pack dominated the game and drove the ball on or left quality ball for John at scrum half to fling it out to the backs. Tries were scored by James, Will, Sam (Killer), Alex (Hardy), Adam and Dan, Will converted 4. Although these were the points scorers there were also other notable contributions. Chris Bolland led the backs, showing Jack and newcomer John the ropes, his straight dynamic running gave a positive platform for the forwards. The coaches’ man of the match was Alex Hardy who seemed to be everywhere on the pitch. This was a great start to the season, but it has set the standard expected all the time. Training will be at 6pm on Thursday and meeting for the away fixture at Rochdale is 9-45 (no later). |
