Moor edged out late in hard-fought match.
Eccles Edge Moor in Close Game It was great just to be able to get a game under our belts after the mini-freeze put a stop to all training and matches for over a month. Unfortunately for the lads it was another defeat to add to the Aldwinians loss. The first half passed fairly uneventfully, with both teams trying to come to terms with the skills they undoubtedly have, after the extended Christmas absence. It was a broken game with the referee doing well to keep the game flowing. Nevertheless the first half ended try-less. The second half started in a fairly similar way, but the Eccles pack began to dominate the scrum and possession. Only a piece of skillful determination from Owen John prevented a certain try from the opposition, it was probably the highlight of the game for Moor, with applause from all corners of the ground. Eventually the pressure told with Eccles running in two converted tries, the only scores of the game. Positives for Moor were that all players took part at some point, it was great to see players adapt themselves to position they probably haven’t played in before.
