Moor narrowly lose opening game.

The first game of the season ironically took us back to where last season ended - Bolton, but although the result was not the same, the performance of the team was. All the coaches agreed the result did not reflect the free flowing style of rugby played by our Lads and with a little more luck the final score would have been totally different.
Once again the parent turn out was fantastic, as always your support and enthusiasm is a great boost for the Lads.
Considering this was our first outing of the season, due to various issues (none of our own making) the starting 13 began brightly. A great passing move highlighted by an off load from Sam Smith was put over the try line by Ellis Astell and converted by Dan McDonagh. The early stages were dominated by Moor accumulating with a second unconverted try, scored by debutant Aiden O'Malley after an excellent rolling maul was taken over the try line. Late in the half, some panic rugby in a dangerous area allowed Bolton to score a converted try, the coaches felt this could have been due to a lack of match practice.
Bolton came out in the second half with real intent having scored late in the first half, with some excellent back play; it took three try saving tackles from the other debutant Gabriel Hollings to keep Moor in the game. Under pressure in our own half a loose ball was picked up by Gabriel who broke through the opposition to score a fantastic solo try, again converted by Dan. Out of character, sloppy tackling from Moor allowed Bolton to run in their second converted try. Unfortunately with time running out and panic setting in, the Bolton pack finished the game with a try; the conversion was scored under pressure and Bolton won the game.
Lots of positives to take from the game with an excellent performance that will only improve as the season progresses. A special mention must also go to the five Year 6s who held their own in their first taste of U12 rugby.
