Two out of two as Moor win on the road.

For their second league match of the season and for the second week running, Moor played another newly promoted side, this time away to Cumbrian side Netherhall. From the kick-off, the visitors had the Maryport-based side under pressure and this produced three penalties within the first 18 minutes that were all kicked by fly-half Shaun Stirrup. On the half-hour mark, the home side made a rare incursion into the Moor half, but the visitors managed to turn the ball over and break out and force the defence to concede a penalty. Instead of opting for a kick at goal, Stirrup kicked to touch and from the resulting line-out, the Moor forwards caught and drove towards the Netherhall line, resulting in lock Ben Jones scoring his debut 1st XV try, converted by Stirrup.
Turning around 16-0 up, Moor had to wait 15 minutes before they extended their lead. This came from another turnover, enabling scrum-half Felipe Silva to pick up at the base of the ruck, dart through the initial cover and then jink his way to the line for an unconverted try. Two more tries followed shortly as the home side began to wilt under the Moor pressure. The first came after the visitors won a Netherhall scrum and the ball was passed quickly along the back line for winger Zander Claassen to come over from the opposite wing to score wide out on the right, converted by Stirrup and the second came after Jones, having an excellent game, cleared the ball out from a ruck, passed to Silva who raced away before giving the scoring pass to full-back Chris Ogden-Smith, the conversion going just wide. In what was to prove the last play of the game, Stirrup scored and converted a fine individual effort under the posts as Moor, for the third week running, scored a fifth and final try to run out very comfortable 40-0 winners.
Next Saturday, Moor play Kirkby Lonsdale at Green Lane, k.o. 3:00 pm.
