Final agony
Moor's dream of a league and cup double were dashed ultimately by the pressure of having to play 3 competitive games in 9 days. Despite taking an early lead from an Aaron Jones penalty they were not playing with their usual command and control.

Lancashire Plate Final
Heaton Moor 21 Littleborough 22

This showed in the first half as Littleborough had a number of scoring chances in the first 20 minutes but only took 2 of them for 10 points. Moor replied with 2 tries of their own; a drive in the centre by Phil Butcher made room for Paul Nixon to force his way over in the corner. The second followed a period of forward pressure near their opponent's line, culminating in a drive over by Johnny Vailini from a close range line out.

Turning round 13 -10 ahead Moor went further ahead thanks to a long range penalty from Zander Claassen. Littleborough replied with a try from a line out to reduce the margin to 16 - 15. A very effective rolling maul sucked in defenders before the ball was quickly moved out to Claassen who scored in the corner to put Moor ahead 21 - 15.

With 2 minutes of normal time remaining Littleborough forced their way over for a converted try to edge them ahead 22-21. In added on time Moor put in a final effort but were thwarted by unpenalised offside by defenders. With the final kick of the game Moor's many supporters saw a drop goal attempt go agonisingly close.
