Late scores seal another Moor league victory.

With conditions perfect for open rugby both sides took up the challenge to provide an entertaining local derby. Moor set the tone from the kick-off as they forced the visitors back on the defensive with a series of drives, culminating in a try for skipper James McIntosh after 3 minutes, Martin Shelley converting. Bedians reduced the margin to 7-3 after 5 minutes, but the next 25 minutes saw defences dominant. The stalemate was broken when Felipe Silva gathered a clearance in midfield before cutting through to feed Ivan Smetana who returned the compliment for Silva to score. With minutes of the half remaining, Moor went on the attack again, but an overlap situation was spoiled by turning the ball inside, only for it to go to ground. The loose ball was snapped up Bedians who scored a converted try to make the half-time score line 12-10.

The opening 10 minutes after the restart were crucial for Moor as they turned up the pressure. A smothering tackle by McIntosh provided a loose ball that Shelley dribbled through for a try in the corner. A thundering run through the midfield by Phil Thomas was halted just short, but the ball was quickly recycled for Jamie Haynes to touch down. The opposition redoubled their efforts but could only manage a penalty on the half hour as the home defence did its job well.

Determined not to surrender their lead, Moor retaliated with 2 tries in the closing minutes. A drive downfield by Kieran McColl provided Smetana with the chance to outpace the cover defence for a try that Shelley converted and the final move of the game saw Shelley sidestep his way over from 20 metres, though his conversion rebounded off the upright.

With no fixture this weekend, Moor take the opportunity to recharge their batteries before visiting Bolton on March 1st.
