Clubs unite to remember Paul Barlow.

On Sunday, 2nd November, a tree-planting ceremony was held at Burnage RFC in memory of Paul Barlow who was both a life member of Moor and a member at Burnage. Around 100 friends and acquaintances of Paul attended the event and following short speeches by Burnage’s Vice-President Paul Lawson and Moor’s President David Todd, Paul’s widow Diana carried out the ceremonial planting of a Himalayan Birch. In addition, it was revealed that a new player/spectator stand currently being erected would be named the ‘Col. Ribena Stand for Grumpy Old Men’ in memory of Paul.

There then followed a match between a Burnage XV and a Moor XV that was played in what can only be described as very much a ‘cavalier’ fashion and thanks to some very generous refereeing, honours were even at the end, 31-31.
